Tampa, Fla. - Only a couple weeks until playoffs. June represented the meat of the season, the time for players to make or break their cases as the best talents in League Two. The USL Sporting Department selected these 11 players that showcased the very best of what the league has to offer in June.

GK – Tomasz Wroblewski – Little Rock Rangers

The Little Rock defense has been nothing short of exceptional this season. In June, they conceded only one goal in six matches. While Wroblewski hasn’t had as much to do as other keepers – Little Rock have largely dominated proceedings before the ball gets to him – it’s his confidence and organization of the defense in front of him that helps lead them to that domination. When he claims a ball, he’s immediately scanning for opportunities to apply pressure the other way. There haven’t been any sharper goalkeepers across the middle month of the season.

D – Josh Jones – Ocean City Nor’Easters, Player of the Month

Josh Jones is to Ocean City’s defense what Canadian international Moise Bombito was to Seacoast United in 2022. Everything goes through him – nobody can take a shot against the Nor’Easters without Jones having a say, and most often, he’s on the winning side of the argument. Heading balls clear, sweeping up danger one-on-one, anything that needs done, Jones will do it. That includes scoring goals, as he added five to his tally in the month of June alone, presenting himself as a massive aerial target.

D – Max Broughton – Des Moines Menace

Four matches, four wins, two shutouts. Max Broughton has delivered on the promise his talent made when he committed to play for Des Moines. Troy McKerrell’s side is clicking at the right time, and that’s largely because of the security that Broughton provides along the back line. He controls the middle and has spent the last month cutting down on the number of shots the Menace face. If he spends July like he spent June, the Menace are real contenders.

D - Leonardo Andrade – Brave SC

Brave SC may have had the best June in the league. 15 points from five matches, with three clean sheets, and they have Andrade to thank for the security. The Brazilian-heavy side found their groove, and Andrade’s tough-but-technical style has spread to the rest of the side. The feather in Andrade’s cap for June was a resounding 3-0 victory over Nona, a real contender for the division title.

M – William Pierce – Sarasota Paradise

Clubs that have been in League Two for a decade would be jealous of Sarasota’s all-time midfield. After Hosei Kijima’s success, the Paradise went from strength to strength with JP Jordan and William Pierce. Pierce can play both as a traditional number 6 and number 8, cleaning up on defense but with real ability going forward. He netted five goals in June, becoming integral to the Sarasota attack.

M - Connor Evans – United PDX

It’s not hyperbole to say Connor Evans does everything for United PDX. That’s not to say everyone else is a passenger – only that Evans has his say in every phase of play for the club. He led the team in goals in June, securing four wins in the month and now they’re creeping up on 2023 champions Ballard FC for the Northwest Division title.

M – Taig Healy – Seacoast United Phantoms

Healy will be in the running for Player of the Season, and for good reason. He’s orchestrated the Phantoms attack to perfect harmony. Every kick a note, every touch a beat, and he leaves fans and opposing defenses hanging on the rests, scared for what’s coming next. In short – he’s a terror. Five goals and a number of assists in June as the Phantoms sit on top of the extremely crowded and difficult Northeast division.

M - William Wiersdorf – Almaden FC

One of the most successful 2024 expansion clubs by record in League Two, Almaden had a brilliant June and stayed on top of the Nor Cal division with an undefeated June. Wiersdorf put in six goals from midfield, and has been one of the best players in the Western Conference over the last month. He’s commanded the middle over the last month, and the club is on the brink of securing a playoff spot in their debut season.

F – Palmer Ault – Flint City Bucks

After a blip in May, the Bucks were roaring through the Great Lakes in June, thanks in no small part to Ault’s dominance. He scored four times in six matches, as the club hunted down the divisional lead. He’s a constant outlet option, finding himself in space on either wing to run at the defense and apply pressure to the back line.

F – Alec Hughes – Western Mass Pioneers

The Golden Boot race leader at the moment, Hughes is a force through which all Western Mass attacks go. The lanky forward uses his immense frame to win those critical duels that are the difference between a shot on target and a ball booted back to the defenders. His finishing is sublime, and he has the know-how to get in the spaces that his teammates need him to be in to finish chances.

F – Yaniv Bazini – Vermont Green FC

An explosive June saw nine goals for the Vermont forward, including an acrobatic bicycle kick against Boston City FC. He’s been in excellent form, finishing the chances that Vermont have otherwise struggled to put away, and his nose for goal is a major reason the club are still in the race for the Eastern Conference playoffs.
